A Glossary of Mediaeval Welsh Law: Based Upon the Black Book of Chirk (1913)

By Eric Partridge
An excellent reference for students of early Welsh legal sources, this dictionary is based on an early manuscript of laws in the north Welsh dialect. The definition of each word is followed by an extract from the manuscript. Examples from other texts, included extra-legal ones, are given as well. Timothy Lewis [1877-1958] joined the University College, Aberystwyth, in 1910 as assistant lecturer and later became reader in Celtic Palaeography. He served in the Royal Artillery in France from 1915-1918.
