Description
Pharmacokinetics of moxifloxacin @ 5mg.kg-1.b.wt was studied in healthy and bifenthrin intoxicated goats (n=4), following its IV administration. The MIC of moxifloxacin in plasma was maintained up to 8h in healthy goats whereas it was maintained only up to 6h in bifenthrin-intoxicated goats. The AUC was significantly decreased from 7.860.06g.ml-1h to 6.900.076g.ml-1h in bifenthrin-intoxicated goats. The distribution half-life (t1/2) and volume of distribution at steady state Vd(ss) observed were 0.080.0008 h and 2.430.01L.kg-1 respectively in healthy goats and 0.0810.0006h and 2.320.03L.kg-1 in bifenthrin intoxicated goats. Total body clearance was increased from 636.064.68 ml.kg-1h-1 in healthy to 725.47.92 ml.kg-1h-1 in intoxicated goats. However, decrease in elimination half life (t1/2) from 2.810.04h to 2.610.01h was observed in intoxicated goats. The dosage regimen of moxifloxacin calculated in healthy animals is 4.99 mg.kg-1 followed by 4.73 mg.kg-1 at 12h interval effective against bacterial isolates with MIC
