Description
Statins are well-known drugs to lower cholesterol levels and play an important role in the prevention of cardiovascular diseases. They inhibit hydroxymethylglutarylcoenzyme A (HMGCoA) reductase, an enzyme that plays a central role in the production of cholesterol in the liver.
